Day 25 - Practice Kindness
Stop, Breath & Think

Neuroscience has actually confirmed that it is “better to give than receive” - and that “kindness is its own reward”. We now know that when are intentionally kind to someone, or offer them the gift of compassion, care or generosity - our brains are bathed in reward neuro-chemicals, including dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin.
It literally feels good to be consciously kind to others - and to be kind to ourselves. It produces a state of wellbeing that, over time, is imprinted as a default trait. In meditation, we can create the state and neural rewards of kindness - and in so doing, physically reinforce the networks and pathways associated with a positive mindset.
From an ethical perspective, altruistic behaviors are an important strategy for socialization and community-building. From a scientific perspective, there’s an evolutionary reward associated with the warm glow of kindness and consideration. These are both positive incentives that drive positive outcomes - and so contribute to a positive mindset.
