Ask for Help
Mindful | 5:00
We all know when we’re feeling overwhelmed, but learning to press the pause button can be an act of great self-awareness. For some of us, admitting that we need some time for ourselves, or help of any kind requires courage in its starkest form: vulnerability.
Showing this vulnerability can be terrifying, as it exposes us to the risk of appearing needy or insufficient. We are admitting to others that we are not a self-contained, indestructible force - and we’re exposing ourselves to rejection.
Mindfulness helps us put these ego-driven, self-referential challenges in perspective. It calms our automatic, unconscious and irrational fear - and grounds our sensitivity. It helps us trust ourselves and others enough to open up about our difficult thoughts, fears and failures. And to gracefully ask for help.
