Thank you. Thank you, David. It's a great pleasure to be with you here in this wonderful city.

I want to say at the outset, before I begin, that the research I'm going to talk about has been contributed to by several 1000 people. This is all team science. And those people include neuroscientist engineer psychologists, many people in the health professions, medical doctors, of course, in many other individuals. So understand that this is not about me, it's about this team. And when you see a report that comes about from this work that's published, which occurs at a pretty rapid rate, it's almost always some younger person that's led the study, and they should be given primary credit for it.

I also want to set the outset that I was allowed by the University of California to contribute to the founding of two companies. And one of the things I'm going to do today is talk about what those companies do. It was an attempt by me as a scientist working in the ivory tower to try to translate the benefits of our science into the world. And I'm, I'm very thankful for my university to allow me to do that without throwing me out. But you should understand that I profit, I benefit from what these companies do. And when I talk about this extension of science into the practical world, I'm contaminated by that. So you should think of this as an issue in which there's potential conflicts of interest.
