Hi, everybody. Thank you so much for joining us today for this Talks at Google virtual event. My name is Jessica Vento and I'm the head of mental health at YouTube. And before we get started, I want to remind the audience that we will be taking questions at the end. So please think of questions now and get ready to ask them and then you can add them to the live chat on the right.
So I am very excited to introduce to you Dr. Kristin Neff, an expert in self compassion. She is a leader in research on the impact of self compassion on mental health and well being. And much of society teaches us that self compassion is the enemy of productivity. And that to be kind toourselves is to invite complacency. But Dr. Neff says the opposite is true. She is a pioneer in the field of inner strength training and self compassion and the first person to empirically study the concepts and create a simple, actionable guide proven to increase motivation, boost resilience and improve mental health.
