Box Breathing

The next meditation I'm going to share with you is called Box breathing. It's also called heartbeat breathing, if I remember correctly. Again, these are just two types of meditations that I'm offering, you can go online and learn a billion others.

These are just really simple ones I've found that were easy to incorporate into daily life and really good stepping stones into a practice. So, a box breath meditation is breathing in for a counter for holding your breath for a count of four, breathing out for a count of four, holding that for a count of four. So I'll show you one cycle you can do however many cycles you like. This is the type of thing I've learned to come to and in my day, or turn to in my day, almost like where I used to go to the cabinet, get a snack.

This has begun to feel that satisfying to me. If I just need a little break, I'm at the computer too long, I'm writing too long. I'll just do a box breath four or five times. Or if I dropped my son off at school and I have some extra time before my next thing. I'll just do a few box breaths or one of the counting meditations. It really makes sure that I am in the driver's seat during the day instead of in the passenger seat where I'm reacting to my life.
